THE 97TH ZAMBIA AGRICULTURAL AND COMMERCIAL SHOW WELCOME MESSAGE

THE 97TH AGRICULTURAL AND COMMERCIAL SHOW THEMED “ADAPTING TO CLIMATE CHANGE"

Message from Dr. Oliver Mubita Kalabo: Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Administration)

This year’s exhibition showcases Zambia’s potential for food security, and sustainable development. It also highlights Government’s commitment to supporting key sectors that drive our nation’s prosperity. It is in this vain that I urge all government ministries to take this prestigious exhibition as an opportunity to showcase Inter-ministerial collaboration and coordination, highlighting precisely, their contributions to agriculture and commerce. I also encourage all stakeholders including local, international and government institutions to interact and share knowledge; acknowledging the importance of agriculture and commerce in driving the economic growth of the country.

To our visitors, I can safely say Zambia is a potential hub for investment and trade. Particularly in the Agriculture sector, Government’s commitment, as directed by the Republican President, Mr Hakainde Hichilema is focused on investment in fertiliser production, increased crop production, improvement in livestock production, promotion of climate-resilient agriculture, support to farmers through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Streamlining trade corridors and, enhancing agriculture productivity through concerted efforts in order to address challenges such as low productivity, and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.

All these directives demonstrate Government’s commitment to transforming the agriculture sector, promoting economic growth, food security, and job creation through our ministries, private and public sector, and our international exhibitors/investors.

I again welcome all guests, exhibitors and participants not only to our stand as Cabinet Office, but also to explore, interact and exchange ideas and opportunities throughout this period and beyond.
